Fishing on the main lake has been relatively slow compared to year's past. I have had the privilege to fish with many good walleye fisherman over the years on this lake and many of them are scratching their heads wondering where the fish went. However, base campers don't be too discouraged. These reports of 30, 32, and 33 inch walleyes are from the outposts and not Minnitaki. There are an abundance of 21-24 inchers to be had, you just may have to change your tactics a bit. If you're a spinner fisherman using bottom bouncers, change to a walking sinker and a small blade. Lindy rigs and jigs tipped with half crawlers or leeches have worked well also. If using a Lindy don't be afraid to give them 15-20 seconds. The bites have been very short or extremely light. Good luck in your pursuit of a tasty shore lunch.

Thank You to Lee and Julie for another GREAT trip. Our group has been enjoying various PAC outposts since 1983, and we start counting down the days to the next trip on our drive home. This year was no exception. The fishing was non-stop, and the 4 days and 80 dozen minnows went very quickly!! The clountdown to 2005 has already begun.....

Update: Current conditions - blizzard. Springpole, Fawcett, Blackstone, Little Miniss - Frozen. Everything else is open. Tomorrow is supposed to be better. Calling for freezing rain and sleet. Might have to cancel tomorrows beer run. Water levels are up at the base camp. Maybe 2 feet or more. The water levels at the outposts vary. Lac Seul is still low. The border: Adult - All you need is a drivers license to get in. Children - should have a birth certificate. There is still a ban on potatoes. We will keep some here in the store. New twist this year though - no dog food allowed into Canada. Don't ask. Even the people at the border don't know. Chevy had a depressed look as I dumped 160 lbs of high quality dog food on the U.S. side. How will he eat this summer?
